Welcome to the online home for Genesee Radio Amateurs! We are an ARRL affiliated Amateur Radio Club based in Genesee County, NY – our club is open to all interested in the hobby whether licensed or not. We meet the third Friday of every month at the Genesee County Emergency Operations Center. Scroll down to see announcements of upcoming club activities, and any news that we may have to share.

POTA Activation Saturday!!

For anyone that didn’t make it to the meeting this past Friday, we’ll be doing a Parks On The Air event from Oak Orchard Wildlife Management Area (K-8099) this Saturday – beginning at 9am!!

We’ve scheduled the activation on the POTA website, so hopefully we’ll have some active ‘POTA Hunters’ looking for us.. Feel free to bring out some equipment and operate!

AWA Museum Visit

In lieu of our regular March meeting, we took a short drive to the Antique Wireless Association Museum – we had a great time learning about the history of Radio Communications, and seeing some of the amazing exhibits that they have to offer! A small gallery of photos from our group trip is below..

Our next regular club meeting will be Friday, April 21st @ 7pm at the Genesee County Emergency Management Center (location on our about page linked here)

New Club Officers

We’d like to thank our outgoing Club President Dave, N2OA, for his service to the club the last two years, and welcome the incoming new officers. Due to the Snow Storms in both November and December, our elections were held on January 20th Meeting.

Welcome to our new officers for the 2023 year:

President: Phil Colantonio, WB2RYH

Vice President: Nate Fernaays, KD2PSC

Treasurer: Paul Mulford, KD2PTM

Secretary: Ken Carlson, K2ET

We’ll be updating the “Meet the Officers” section of the site soon!

Field Day Success!

Thanks to all that turned out to our Field Day Event – we had ample help for final setup on Saturday late morning, and Sunday for teardown. Due to impending thunderstorms, we did close up shop a little early on Saturday, taking our last station off the air at 1:30pm instead of the 2:00pm end time. Our contact count wasn’t as high as it was in years past, however a good time was had by all!

Reminder that there will be no meetings in the months of July and August, however some club members will be camping out at the Fireman’s Grounds prior to the Batavia Hamfest – you’re allowed in on the evening of Friday, July 15th, and the Hamfest itself begins early the morning of the 16th.

August 19th, we’ll be having a Club Picnic – location has yet to be finalized, however stay tuned to this page, our email list, and Twitter account @W2RCX!

Field Day this Weekend!

This Weekend is Field Day! As with the last few years, we’ll be operating at Genesee Community College off of Hawley Drive in Batavia. Our station class will be 4A plus VHF/UHF, and hopefully we’ll even get a chance at a Satellite pass!

For those that need a reminder, we’re parked at the Nature Trail Entrance – coming from the West (Bank St.) it’s the first entrance and before you get to the college sign. If you’re coming from the East (Seven Springs Rd.) it’s the far entrance after the sign. Once you turn in you should be able to see the W2RCX banner.

We’ll be setting up antennas bright at early Saturday morning, and on the air (hopefully) by the 2pm Start.

We’ll have a group dinner Saturday Evening, feel free to bring a side dish, or dessert to pass, main is taken care of.

See you all this weekend!
